Doseo center for radiotherapy and medical imaging technologies opens its doors

Posted on 16 December 2014

The Doseo center officially opened its doors on December 16, 2014, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by French Minister of State for Higher Education and Research Geneviève Fioraso, who was welcomed by CEA Chief Administrator Bernard Bigot and representatives of Doseo’s founding partner organizations: National Cancer Institute (INCA) President Dr. Agnès Buzyn, National Metrology and Testing Laboratory (LNE) Director Jean-Luc Laurent, and Director of INSTN Xavier Vitart.

Metrology: new Varian TrueBeam medical accelerator operational

Posted on 15 October 2014

The Varian TrueBeam medical accelerator purchased by France’s national metrology lab for ionizing radiation, LNHB (Laboratoire national Henri-Becquerel), and set up at the Doseo center for radiotherapy technology went online on October 1, 2014.

GR11, a new calorimeter for measuring doses delivered by mini-beams.

Posted on 15 October 2014

France’s national metrology lab for ionizing radiation, LNHB (Laboratoire national Henri-Becquerel), has designed and built a new graphite calorimeter, the GR11. The device will be used to measure the dose delivered to patients during radiotherapy treatments with small field sizes (less than 1 cm in diameter).

Dose profile: EBT3 Gafchromic films offer excellent performance

Posted on 15 September 2014

CEA LIST’s national metrology lab for ionizing radiation, LNHB (Laboratoire national Henri-Becquerel), has established a dose profile protocol using EBT3 Gafchromic films to improve the absolute measurement of doses in mini-beam radiotherapy. These latest-generation films make it possible to directly obtain a 2D map of the dose delivered with high spatial resolution.

Interventional radiology: new Monte Carlo calculation method

Posted on 15 July 2014

CEA LIST has developed a novel Monte Carlo calculation method to estimate practitioner exposure to radiation (eye and heart doses). The method will be used to integrate a new feature into the em.SIM virtual reality simulator for interventional radiology risk management that CEA LIST developed in 2013 in partnership with esprimed.
