R&D partnership signed with Radiation Therapy Consulting for IMCR

Posted on 15 September 2015

The use of intensity-modulated conformational radiotherapy (IMCR) is on the rise, driven by advances in radiotherapy treatment. The trend is affecting both traditional IMCR methods like step-and-shoot and sliding window as well as dynamic conformal arc therapy. The complexity of these methods requires stringent preparation and quality assurance. Doses must be controlled systematically for each treatment plan before implementation in order to ensure that treatments are administered correctly.

One way for radiotherapy departments to increase their efficiency is to use metrics to quantify a treatment plan’s complexity to assess whether or not systematic quality controls are pertinent.

The goal of the partnership is to develop decision-assistance software for Radiation Therapy Consulting (RTC) leveraging an analysis of the complexity of treatment plans using real data gathered from several RTC partner treatment centers.
